Global Block Services – A New Approach to Leveraging Your Storage Resources

YottaYotta’s GSX 3000 NetStorage Control Node is a storage network appliance designed to break down traditional storage boundaries and free storage assets from conventional limitations, whether within a single physical data center or among multiple, geographically disbursed sites. Our GSX 3000 provides a suite of Global Block Services. These solutions, inserted at the block-level, enable data management, mobility, and availability for storage consumers regardless of location (e.g., within an individual data center, across a metropolitan area, across thousands of miles).
Much of this is enabled by the unique ability of the YottaYotta GSX 3000 to maintain Fully Active operations, which provides a globally consistent view of the data both within a site and across sites, and full read/write operations to a single, distributed data image. The GSX 3000 leverages distributed cache coherence and enforces block-level locking so that all sites perform full input/output (I/O) to coherent shared volumes across multiple sites – while still retaining near-local performance. This provides increased flexibility in the management and availability of IT resources, while providing the capability to leverage previously idle servers and storage across disparate sites.
As a fabric-based appliance, the GSX 3000 resides between some or all data paths between heterogeneous servers and storage, providing scalable geographic storage virtualization, continuous data availability, and geographic SAN clustering. Unlike traditional array-based approaches, the GSX 3000 provides a network-based solution that can leverage a heterogeneous server and storage environment. And unlike server-based solutions, the GSX 3000 provides a wide range of Global Block Services without depleting valuable host resources.
From one consolidated product platform, our suite of Global Block Services not only enables better utilization of assets through resource sharing; it also facilitates online data migrations, single-site and multi-site storage virtualization, and continuous data availability, while complementing existing data center applications like VMware by extending their benefits across a wide area network (WAN). By localizing access to distributed data, YottaYotta allows organizations to utilize – and optimize – their complete storage infrastructure.
