Press Release
ViON Corporation
and YottaYotta Announce Partnership
ViON
to Provide High Performance Global Data Sharing and Fully Active
Business Continuity Solutions
WASHINGTON, D.C. and
ALEXANDRIA, VA, May 23, 2006 – ViON Corporation® (ViON) and
YottaYotta®, the High Performance Netstorage® Company,
announced today a partnership agreement enabling ViON to resell and
support the YottaYotta GSX 3000 NetStorage Control Node, the first
storage network device to make resilient, high-performance global data
sharing and fully active business continuity a reality for both
government and enterprise customers.
ViON specializes in designing, delivering, and maintaining storage and
server solutions for high performance, enterprise-wide data centers
throughout the federal, state, and local governments. ViON packages a
unique offering of enterprise-class processor and storage
infrastructures and functions, and an optional “utility” pricing model
to simplify some of the most complex tasks facing federal IT managers.
The GSX 3000 will enable ViON to provide wide area global data sharing
and resource optimization across geographically distributed
environments while addressing government requirements for business
continuity, also known as continuity of operations (COOP), which is
mandated by federal regulation.
Unique to the GSX 3000 and YottaYotta’s Global Block Services, is the
ability to provide coherent read and write access to globally
consistent data – while reducing WAN traffic and avoiding the
performance penalties of sharing data over large distances. This
provides a foundation for more efficient and robust storage networks,
eliminating the need for idle standby assets while significantly
improving resiliency. As opposed to traditional data replication, which
provides a passive copy at a remote site, YottaYotta offers a fully
active copy at all locations, enabling transparent fail-over and
fail-back capable of delivering recovery time objectives and recovery
point objectives of zero. This opens up new approaches to managing and
implementing critical storage applications such as site-aware
heterogeneous RAID, continuous access data migration and consolidation,
and transparent multi-site data sharing.
“Ensuring business continuity in the event of system, network, or
complete site failures is mandated by federal regulation for our
customer base,” said Tom Frana, president and chief executive officer
of ViON. For example, YottaYotta’s capability to roll-through a
complete array failure without applications and users even knowing that
a failure occurred delivers on and exceeds those requirements. In
addition, the fact that the GSX 3000 can enhance our currently
supported products ensures we can start delivering global data sharing
and fully active continuity of operations to our customers.”
“ViON is a leading enterprise storage and systems expert with an
exceptional reputation in delivering best of breed technology solutions
to our strategic market,” said Bart Shigemura, president and chief
executive officer of YottaYotta. Their existing customer and partner
base, available procurement vehicles such as the GSA schedule, and
utility pricing model will accelerate the deployment of our products.
In addition, ViON offers certified and security-cleared staff, ensuring
our customers are provided with first-rate service and support. We look
forward to working with the ViON team.”

About YottaYotta
YottaYotta is setting the new enterprise standard for resilient,
high-performance global data sharing and fully-active continuity of
operations (COOP). The GSX 3000 NetStorage Control Node and
YottaYotta’s suite of Global Block services localize access to globally
coherent data, enabling organizations to leverage their entire storage
