For example, in the event that your storage environment supporting the Microsoft Exchange server cluster needs to be scheduled for maintenance—or fail for any reason—the GSX 3000 can immediately fail-over active I/O to an alternate location, providing seamless Microsoft Exchange high availability and continuity of operations.
For example, in the event of a storage subsystem failure, local I/O fails-over to the nearest surviving mirror. Meanwhile, all GSX 3000 nodes within the multi-site system can work in parallel to rebuild the failed storage site. The GSX 3000 offers transparent fail-over and fail-back with no user intervention and without the requirement for cluster node fail-over – no disk errors are witnessed by servers or applications. When the restoration is complete, I/O automatically fails-back to the reconstructed data mirror.
Even in the event of a total site failure, YottaYotta leverages Microsoft Cluster Services to automatically failover the Microsoft Exchange server from the failed site to a surviving site, while the GSX 3000 eliminates the requirement to manually promote or re-configure passive storage volumes. The Microsoft Exchange server is up and running in minutes as opposed to hours with minimal disruption enabling a successful business continuity strategy with significantly reduced RTOs and RPOs. When a failed site recovers, the GSX 3000 automatically updates logical volumes at that site with any incremental changes that occurred during the site outage. The GSX 3000 also leverages data replication tools offered by hosts and storage systems, including point-in-time copy services.
