The GSX 3000 provides an automated, simplified approach to migration that enables data mobility across a multi-vendor, multi-tiered storage environment while ensuring applications remain online. YottaYotta’s data migration software ensures migrations can be initiated, monitored remotely, and optionally scripted and automated with the YottaYotta UNITY Pilot Storage Management System. Regardless of whether the migration is performed for center consolidation, data center re-location, or commissioning and de-commissioning storage systems off lease, the capability to accelerate the migration process while applications remain online can represent a significant Return on Investment (ROI) for organizations.
For example, traditional data migration software methods can take up to four months to commission and de-commission a single storage array. Considering that some customers lease storage arrays over a 36-month period, expediting the data migration strategy can translate into immediate savings by reducing the amount of idle time storage arrays remain on lease. In addition to YottaYotta’s migration software for data mobility and flexibility, the GSX 3000 leverages cache coherency to provide Wide Area Mirroring (WAM) and ensure resiliency across the data center environment. As opposed to traditional remote data replication software solutions which offer active/passive operations (i.e., the data at the primary data center is read/write capable, however the remote copy of the data is write inhibited and/or remains idle), the GSX 3000 provides a globally consistent mirror that not only provides high availability, but the capability to load balance operations across sites. In addition to leveraging software cache coherency, the GSX 3000 offers both synchronous and asynchronous mirroring with Write Order Fidelity (WOF).
One of the most important features of the GSX 3000 is it’s software cache coherency and its ability to consistently maintain Fully Active operations. In addition, as opposed to traditional synchronous and asynchronous data replication software solutions, YottaYotta’s block-level locking and cache coherency algorithms ensure that all sites can perform full I/O to coherent shared volumes across multiple sites.
